FOUNDATION OILS
Jojoba – Jojoba is chemically a wax, as opposed to an oil. Jojoba is nature’s own ceramides, a waxy lipid that is found in our skin sebum and essential to a healthy lipid barrier. ‘Ceramide’ means unit of measurement of wax and waxes are found throughout many whole plants. Jojoba is known for resembling our skin’s natural wax barrier more than any other plant; and unrefined raw Jojoba has the ability to restore a damaged skin barrier on its own.

INNOVATIVE EXTRACTIONS
Realizing the protective potential of antioxidants and the age defying powers of adaptogens, our final extracts are the result of a seven week slow-extraction process used to unlock antioxidants, actives and phyto nutrients from selected organic plant. Through the art of a 2 fold extraction process which we dubbed Lipophilic Splendour, we transform individual ingredients into micro-nutrients that the skin can more readily recognize and receive. Ancient apothecaries and healers began with whole plants to treat body and soul. Today, our 49 day Lipophilic Splendour Infusion process begins in the very same way. To begin the formulations for each Awaken, Waymaker and Silver Lining Serum Collections, a select group of 13 nutrient-rich botanicals are carefully chosen for their adaptogenic and/or nutrient dense properties and the ability to deliver radiance-inducing results. Eight of the thirteen plants are grown and harvested organically on the property and the others, sustainably sourced as whole botanicals.

Uva-Ursi|Bear Berry

Bearberry is interesting because it contains the well-known skin lightening agent arbutin which makes uva ursi one of natures only source of hydroquinone. The leaves contain 5-15% percent of it and might be able to help fading brown spots on the skin.

Like most plant extracts, uva ursi comes complete with other nutrients, including antioxidants that provide natural protection against environmental stressors.

Liquorice Root

Acts as a tyrosinase inhibitor to reduce the over production of melanin and reduce pigmentation like melasma and sun damage

Contains liquiritin, an active compound that helps to disperse and remove existing melanin in the skin.. In other words, not only can it help prevent new dark spots from forming, it can also fade existing ones.

Its also a potent antioxidant: liquorice contains a flavonoid, an antioxidant-rich component that decreases reactive oxygen species, which both age and discolour the skin.

Calendula

Calendula – Calendula is a plant that is a true necessity for healthy skin. It is deeply restorative and healing on a cellular level, with an abundance of carotenoids and resins that our skin can use with ease. It is excellent for aiding the healing of skin damage. Cholesterol is another lipid found in our skin’s protective barrier, and Calendula mirrors that with its high phytosterol content. The Delicate Barrier process begins with seeding Calendula flowers at our partnering farms, and eventually leads to a 3-month infusion process. To ensure we are capturing the full range of phytosterols and the other beneficial constituents Calendula offers, we combine our proprietary maceration process with a Calendula whole-plant pressurized concentrate.
